The Competition Team are working with schools, The county's School Sports Partnerships and National Governing Bodies of sport across Norfolk to promote and increase participation in Inter School Competition. The Competition Team's aim is to move the benchmark of 32% of young people who take part in inter-school sport to a 50% target by 2010.
Before half term working with Partnership Development Manager Jenny Day and the SSP SSCo's, the Competition Team has assisted in the co-ordination of a Y3/4 Sportshall Athletics event at Watton Sports Centre. Now in the second half of term 1 Y7 Rugby and Football events are taking place, plus developing opportunities for Trampolining, Multi Skills and Tag Rugby
Norfolk Competition Team has produced calendars are County-Wide event planners showing opportunities for competition across a range of sports. Please check your specific partnership diaries for events you have the opportunities to take part in, or contact your School Sport Coordinator or Partnership Development Manager for more specific information.
The Primary School Version of this Calendar shows just the opportunities available at Key Stages One and Two. In addition please check with your specific monthly calendars for other Competitions available to you.
As the Competition Team for Norfolk, we feel one of the most important areas of our work is to standardise the Competition format for all sports that we are offering on the Calendar this year.
The reason for doing this is to ensure that there is a clear and concise pathway to County Competition. We hope that the information supplied on these forms will help mould and guide the format for your cluster and partnership events. (We understand that some flexibility may be needed with your local cluster and partnership events with regards to venue/time etc). The vision being, when all partnerships meet at the County Finals, all teams will have sufficient knowledge of how the day will progress.
As with everything these forms could be subject to change, if this is the case your Competition Manager will supply you with the updated versions within a suitable time frame. The current forms have been discussed and validated with relevant National Governing Bodies and other associated Sports Development Officers.
We hope you find this resource useful, if there any questions or feedback please contact Jon Eaton on 016030 697005 or email [email protected]
