This year, through Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week you could have the opportunity to carry the Olympic Flame in the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay. Lloyds TSB, as National Presenting Partner to the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay, Official Partner to the London 2012 Games and Corporate Partner of the Youth Sport Trust, What’s New this year?
Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week, in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust, uses the power of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to inspire millions of young people to take part in more sport and physical activity. Last year, over 14,000 schools and nearly 5 million pupils tried new Olympic and Paralympic sports, with many going on to join a club in or outside of school. For 2011 pupils will be invited to pledge to achieve a personal best, either individually, with their class, or with their club, and at any level or standard. Once you are registered you will be sent a free resource pack with ideas and plans to help pupils achieve these before, during and after the week. And the week is not just about sport – it can be used across the curriculum to create excitement for London 2012. Your pack and our website will provide lots of ideas to help you involve the whole school as well as engage the local community in the week-long celebration. What has been the impact?
Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week can have an impact on pupils’ sport participation; 79% of primary school pupils indicate that following the week they play more sport than before. Around a third said that they have gone on to join a new club or team in or outside of school. And 75% of teachers said the week had a good or very good impact on behaviour and learning. Online Shop – coming soon Following last year’s launch of the Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week online shop, we'll be launching the 2011 one very soon, with low cost items that will help schools bring their event to life. We'll let you know when the shop is available.
Incentives on offer to schools!Torchbearer places and 2012 Tickets! Lloyds TSB is also giving schools taking part in Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week the opportunity to carry the Olympic Flame in the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay or win tickets to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games for their pupils and teachers. From 18 April, encouraging parents, guardians and the local community to pledge their support to your schools through the Lloyds TSB London 2012 website (www.lloydstsb.com/london2012) could give secondary schools the chance to carry the Olympic Flame in the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay or the opportunity for primary schools to win tickets to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Schools registered and taking part will be sent details on these once in a lifetime opportunities (as applicable). Details will be sent to our cluster schools when the details are announced.
