300+ PUPILS IN PRIMARY SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY
On Wednesday 16th October, Breckland Ssp hosted a School Games event at the impressive Hockwold Hall.
The event has grown year on year with over 300 pupils taking this year, representing 16 different schools from across Breckland.
The course enabled the children to experience a great cross country course, with a section leading the runners along a trim trail through the trees.
Seperate racers for Boys and Girls and for Years 3,4,5,6 pupils with Y3-4 pupils running 1000m and Y5-6 running 1500m.
With more than 30 runners in each race the competition to qualify as a top 10 placed runner was fierce. Top 10 placed runners from each event are then invited to the School Games Cross County Finals, held at Holkham Hall in March.
In total 15 schools will now be represented at the finals with some great races enjoyed by all.
Many thanks to then team at Hockwold Hall for enabling us to use the fantastic facilities free of charge and to the team of Sports Leaders from Iceni Academy who marshalled the event.
