On Wednesday 1st May, in glorious summer sunshine Breckland Ssp held the School Games qualifying event for Y3/4 Mini Tennis players.
Over 100 pupils took part, many of whom were experiencing competitition for the first time.
Although pupils were competing in singles matches, they were in teams of 4 with each match counting towards a team score.
Players in each team were ranked 1-4, with players from opposing teams then competing against there opposite number.
As pupils played more and more matches it was clear to see their improvement.
Schools from Gt Ellingham, Rocklands, Wayland JA and Methwold entered 3 or more teams and it was great to see the support and respect given by all.
Matches were umpired by Iceni Academy Sports Leaders who did a fantastic job of keeping score and helping players with the rules.
Methwold, who entered 7 teams eventually came out on top with 4 of their teams topping the group and therefore qualifiyng for The Norfolk School Games Finals in June.
Well done to all and keep swinging from the hips!
