On Wednesday 20th March, Thetford Academy hosted the Breckland Ssp High 5 Netball Competition for Y4/5/6 pupils.
The event is for Big and Small Schools who compete in seperate competitions to determine who qualifies for the Norfolk School Games Finals in June.
It was great to see several schools fielding more than 1 team and a special mention must go to Diamond Academy and Weeting who were introducing pupils to a netball competition for the first time. It was also good to see Gooderstone Primary back in action, a school with only 54 pupils.
On the day, an excellent all round performance from Gt Ellingham and Methwold ensured that they both qualified with 100% records and were both worthy winners. Congratulations to Mundford Primary who managed to squeeze into the 2nd qualifying space for Big Schools, despite being equal on points with Gt Ellingham B and Weeting. Having a positive goal difference made the difference.
Big thanks must go to Y9 Leaders provided by Thetford Academy who referred the matches. Also to Mrs Gunn, Methwold Primary and Jessica Webb, Holly Voules who were court managers and supporting the leaders.
