On Wednesday 7th June, Breckland Ssp hosted a Mini Tennis Tournament for Y3/4. The event held at Thetford Leisure Centre provided the opportunity for schools to enter mixed teams of 4 players.
The tournament was a great success with over 40 children participating. For many it was a first experience of competitive tennis having only played in the playground at school before.
Plenty of talent was on show with some lengthy rallies and all players should be commended for there determination, attitute and above all else sportsmanship.
A special mention must be made for Bishops School. The School provided three teams for the competition and did not stop practising between matches. It was great to see so much enthusiasm for the game.
After many matches the tournament finally provided finalists and 3/4 place. Hingham 1 & 2 contested the final with Weeting 1 & 2 playing for 3rd.
Hingham 2 won by a single point, but all of the top four teams have qualified to represent Breckland in the Summer School Games Final.
Good luck guys.
