Yr7/8 County Sportshall Athletics Results

Wayland Academy played host to the annual Year 7/8 Sportshall Athelics Competiton on the 16th Jan 2012.

Students from The Thetford Academy, Hockwold and Methwold Community School and Wayland Academy gave up their evening to compete for the chance to represent Breckland at the County Sportshall Athletics finals at the UEA on the 9th Feb 2012.

The teams rotated around a series of field events ranging from standing triple jumps, indoor foam javelin and the speed bounce. They then battled it out in the track events which included an obstacle race 2 by 2 relay.

The evening was fast paced and action packed with the students all collecting individual points for their efforts which are collated to form the team scores.

FOLLOW UP NEWS

Well done to Hockwold and Methwold Community School and Wayland Academy who went to the UEA on the 9th Feb for the County Sportshall Atheltics Finals. It was a fantastic effort by all involved and i am pleased to say

Wayland Year 7 girls came 6th and boys came 2nd overall and Hockwold and Methwold Community School Year 8 came 7th overall in both the girls and boys events which was a great achievment by all!!
