Norfolk Summer Games Week

Last week, The Norfolk School Games Finals 2017 were contested across several different venues around the county.

Starting last September, with Level 1 & 2 qualifiyng events, the games has seen 16,000 participating across 14 sports at over 150 events.

The Finals week kicked off on monday with High 5 Netball held at UEA Sportspark and Tri Golf at Norwich Family Golf Centre.

In sweltering heat, teams maintained a hgh level of netball throughout the day which eventually saw Cringleford School crowned champions of Big Schools after a narrow 2-0 defeat of Attleborough. In the Small Schools competition Brooke beat Gt Ellingham to claim the trophy.

Tuesday was the turn of the Y5-6 Kwik Cricket teams to take centre stage. With 4 pools of 4 playing off before semi finals and finals, the pupils gained valuable competition experience. The final standing were: 1.Brooke, 2. St. Williams, 3. Cringleford. This event was hosted at Horsford Cricket Ground

On Wednesday, the Seconday Athletics meet was held back at UEA Sportspark. Each School Sports Partnership brought squads of 80 (so 640) total to take part across track and field events. The overall winning partnership was South Norwich.

At Old Buckingham on thursday, Y5-6 Girls Cricket was played out as a week of sun continued to shine down on proceedings.

The week concluded on friday with Mini Tennis and Special School Games at UEA Sportspark and secondarary Angling at Barford Lakes. St Marthas RC Primary lifting the Mini Tennis Trophy.
